What Ottawa is talking about

🚑 Ottawa Paramedic Service

  •  The Province has quashed the Ottawa Paramedic Service’s plan to transfer non-emergency patients by taxi. Because of funding issues, the plan was to have paramedics assess patients and decide if they needed to go to hospital by ambulance, or if they were stable enough to go by taxi. The Niagara region has a system that allows 911 callers to request an ambulance or taxi to the hospital but Ottawa did not have the proper phone system to handle that, although it is currently being upgraded. (Elyse Skura at CBC)

♿ Para Transpo

  •  Three more City councillors have taken part in the annual Para Transpo challenge by Ottawa Transit Riders. City Councillors Ariel Troster, Catherine Kitts, and Steve Desroches were the latest to be paired with a regular user ‘ambassador’ and experience the Para Transpo version of attempting normal things like booking a ride and going somewhere. Mayor Mark Sutcliffe has not yet taken part. (Ottawa Transit Riders)
